About Us
Our breeding strategy focuses on improving the fiber qualities in darker-fleeced and grey alpacas.
Here's a little background on how we entered the alpaca industry.....
Having lived most our lives in the city and suburbia and not finding the environment we were looking for to raise a family, we headed to the country. We wanted acreage and we wanted our land to work for us. That’s when we found alpacas. We liked the idea of smaller, manageable,non-kill livestock. We visited several farms, purchased a guard llama named LuE, and then dove right into the deep end, adding a barn, proper pasture fencing, and two bred female alpacas that were delivered on New Years Day.
It's hard to believe how much these animals have changed our lives and changed us. We don't think twice about giving them shots, taking fecals, checking body scores, trimming nails and watching their poo piles constantly for any changes. We bore our friends and family with tales of alpaca antics, and inundate them with pictures of our critter family. And we love it all, the challenge of caring for them and finding the best breeding match-ups you can, the anticipation of the next cria crop, the thrill of winning ribbons at shows and most of all the animals themselves. There is nothing quite like relaxing on the back deck laughing at 'paca antics.
We've learned a lot from seminars and shows, the alpaca farming community, and mostly from hands-on experience. We know what its like to start up as newbies in this business - the questions, the expense, finding your niche, and the challenges new alpaca farmers face. We'll gladly share what we've learned and help new farms find their place in this ever growing industry. We have several great mentors in this industry and hope to return the favor by assisting others as they begin thier alpaca journey.
We were fortunate to enter this industry when animal prices were low and accordingly can offer high quality animals at competitive prices. We are committed to the long term growth of the alpaca industry, active in the show circuit, active in the fiber industry and active members of several alpaca organizations. We are in this industry for the long-haul and once you are a customer of ours, you're a customer for life. We offer special pricing to our customers on breedings, alpaca education seminars, and will make sure our customers are aware of any special package or animal sales prices ahead of when they are publicly posted.
So come on out - see the farm, meet the RAVAPAC, and start you own alpaca journey!
